February's Cover Of Vogue Not Sure About This One

9 beautiful women on the cover, hail from the Continent of Africa. But I didn't quite know how I felt about this cover. I'm always in support of beautiful black women showing up in places where we don't normally do, in a good way of course.I feel this cover didn't do much for these women and the representation of Black women. The hair, clothes, the facial expressions. Could Vogue have done better? Most definitely! If you want to celebrate Black women for Black History Month, let's celebrate us from head to toe. The hairstyles. This is a 60's look, why? The '60s was a time of the civil rights movement and yes women with wigs also participated in the struggles of that time and so did women with afros and braids. So what's the point? Next is the expressions, models are known to have serious expressions or expressions that aren't easy to read. I think many times they have expressionless faces because they might take away from the clothing that they're modeling. I know nothing about modeling, so it's an assumption. This cover, isn't about the clothing, if it were they would be in positions where we could actually see the clothing. However, from what I see, the clothing looks unflattering and a few pieces look unfeminine. Any colorism here? Dare I say? Am I reading into it? The lightest of these women are placed in the middle. Maybe I'm tripping? Maybe I'm not? Anyway, we don't need validation from anyone but True Source and ourselves. Vogue do us a favor and don't do us any favors!
